So the past month has been a whirlwind of travel, work and play across Dubai, Berlin and London, and it finally culminated in my birthday in Abu Dhabi! It was a “BIG” birthday and it is strange to think that my adulting trial run is over. This is is a scary thought because I am still figuring out who and what I want to be when I grow up. It is a weird feeling to feel thankful for my life so far, grateful to be blessed with another year, yet nervous about the future. From talking to my friends, I have realised I am not the only one that feels this way and I think (I am certainly not a guru! haha!) that this apprehension comes from not being fully present in the moment and appreciating how far each one of us has come. At any time, we all seem to be trying to juggle several goals – achieving career success, fitness (do them squats!), a balanced personal life, happiness, being a good friend, a good lover (hehe), a good daughter, and a million other goals but at what cost? Personally, I have missed many beautiful moments by over thinking, comparing and impatiently wishing for certain circumstances to change like YESTERDAY! Yet I am the same person who has come soooooo far from the shy only child who always felt like an “outsider” (this feeling is still so hard to shake), to having friends who are definitely family and experiences which I would not have dared to dream of even five years ago!
Over the past year, I have learned that there is so much value in gratitude, letting go and just letting things be. Overanalysing and overthinking has a way of blocking you from seeing the good in your life and the blessings to come. I think a wise man (not sure who lol!) once said – “dare to dream and trust the process”. Im taking that guidance to heart and looking forward to experiencing the best decade of my life so far! I have this unshakeable feeling it will only get better and better, and I hope the same for you too! This millennial struggle is REAL!
Shout out to some of my favourite gurus who are helping me navigate this blessing we call life – Lewishowes, MarieforLeo, Gary Vaynerchuck and Tony Robbins!
On a related note, I spent my birthday with friends on this beautiful private island off the coast of Abu Dhabi called Zaya Nurai.
