Fun in Shoreditch

Shoreditch is one of those places in London that seems to be equally appreciated and vilified for its uniqueness and trendiness. I personally love the area, it has awesome restaurants and bars like Barrio East, it is great for vintage shopping and it is arguably the best place in London for people watching. So many “cool” kids pound the streets that it is impossible not to admire their uniform individuality.

It is also one of my favorite places for catching up with friends as there are endless streets to stroll down while talking about nothing and everything. It was on Shoreditch high street that we discovered the Beirut street food pop up restaurant, Yalla Yalla. Since I live in the middle east now, everything from that part of the world intrigues me, so I dragged my friends in to try Yalla Yalla’s fruit blends and sheesha (hookah for my american readers!).

One thing is certain, this place must look better in the evenings than it does in during the day. I imagine it would look cool in the evenings with the lighting set up and the benches filled with people, however, since we were there on a weekday afternoon, it was simply a decent place to chill and laugh around.

Don’t judge the duck face please *covers face* I’ve known her since way before it was cool to contort your face in such a ridiculous manner and we are still friends even after the fact haha!

Our sheesha contraption was quite fascinating but it worked, so that is the main thing!

After sheesha, I made my friend take my outfit photos for this post, and couldn’t help but capture the clashing prints of her dress against the bright graffiti walls in Yalla Yalla’s backyard.

There was graffiti everywhere, and it made for interesting commentary!

I say this is Scarlett Johansson, do you agree?

Shoreditch is one of those places that you cant fail to find something interesting and it used to be one of my favorite places to hang out when I lived in London. I would recommend checking it out if you are a tourist and looking to check out a quirky part of the city!

It sounds like a great place to visit, and chill with friends – I’ll have to add it to my to-do list for next time I’m in the UK!
